Boyne City

Boyne City is a great place to spend your vacation
and rent a home on Lake Charlevoix!
Located at latitude 45.216675 and longitude -85.013942, Boyne City, Michigan is a small, quaint midwest community of about 3,500 people and covers 5.2 square miles – of which, about 25% is consumed by the breathtaking waters and shores of Lake Charlevoix.

Boyne City was established in 1856 as a hub for the timber industry. Since that time it’s evolved into a home for those who enjoy the laid-back lifestyle of northern Michigan with plenty of outdoor activities including boating, fishing, small game hunting, skiing, and snowmobiling.

Whether you’re planning your vacation for the comfortable summertime (temperatures average in the 70s and 80s) or are looking forward to a winter wonderland, there’s plenty to see and do in northern Michigan. Boyne City is rich with culture. Events and activities fill the community calendar year-round. Here are just a few of the activities you can look forward to:

Annual Morel Mushroom Festival
Morel mushrooms are cherished around the world by both hunters and cooks alike – and are available for only a few short days each year. We just celebrated our 50th Mushroom Festival anniversary – it’s a BIG deal around here. The festival includes a guided mushroom hunt, restaurants prepare exotic morel-laden meals, local talents sing the praises of the golden shrooms, and the ole-time locals tell tales of secret hunting places. You’re sure to have the time of your life at the festival held each spring around May 15 in nearby Boyne Falls.

Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark
At 88,000 square feet, Avalanche Bay is Michigan’s biggest indoor waterpark. It boasts a whole boatload of climbing walls, rides, kids’ pools, slides, and a surf simulator.

Avalanche Preserve Recreation Area
Avalanche Mountain Preserve is a 300 acre woodland on the border of Boyne City. It’s just perfect for hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. It also offers a seasonal offering of archery range and disc golf (Frisbee).

Boyne City Farmer’s Market
Our local farmer’s market brings the best of locally grown northern Michigan fruits and vegetables to your table. The market takes place each Wednesday and Saturday from 8 A.M. till Noon, May 1 through October 30.

Evenings at the Gazebo
The Gazebo, located in the center of the city park features free, live entertainment June through August. These warm, inviting events feature both local – and not so local – talent. From country and big bands to contemporary music, the community gathers for fun, interactive evenings of wholesome entertainment.

Harvest Festival
Boyne City’s Harvest Festival occurs each autumn with a huge farmer’s market, folk art, games for the kids, hayrides and scarecrow contests.

Veteran’s Park
Veteran’s Park is filled with opportunity for your young ones to spend all that energy. It offers plenty of playground equipment, but also offers space enough to stretch out a blanket and relax undisturbed.

Young State Park
Young State Park is just 2 miles outside Boyne City, with 560 acres of forest and trails ideal for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. It is a heavenly mix of cedar swamps, lowlands, and plush, rolling terrain.
